Integrated Corporate Social Responsibility (ICSR): Our ICSR engagements help you move non-existent or ad-hoc philanthropy, corporate responsibility, and shared values work into a coherent, holistic strategy that returns value to your company, employees, and stakeholders.
We work with your team to:
Develop and implement ICSR policies, procedures, and other internal guidelines using systems analysis and design. This process is unique to Kito and ensures that impact is not isolated in stand-alone CSR unit, change is not based on thematic areas or bias, and CSR is fully integrated to maximize ROI, ensure lasting change, and prevent the need to respond to headlines but rather drives trend-lines.
Initial implementation of ICSR programs: Kito’s work is intended to be handed off to long term internal implementation. However, programs are often ready to roll out on an on-going basis. While we work with you to finalize the long game, we make sure that change starts happening sooner rather than later so that you can begin to recoup your investments.
Measure and report ICSR performance: Careful consideration should be given to what and when you measure. We work with you to identify protocols that will help you meet your goals including guidance on metrics that will ensure deliver the recognition and certifications needed to support marketing efforts. We also help you identify, track, and analyze issues, trends, regulations and voluntary codes of conduct to augment your efforts and ensure you are on the path to success – even when external forces are in play.
Partner and network mapping: Kito has an extensive network of partners in government, non-profit, and for-profit sectors. Bringing players together in unique, innovative, and productive ways is a key aspect of our work generating exciting and important returns for our partners.
Supply chain analysis and policy development: Competition is driving CSR in interesting ways –most notably it is pushing CSR into supply chain integrity. This aspect of CSR can be tricky, but good supply chain policy can also create tremendous opportunity and deliver fantastic results, especially with regards to driving innovation both in terms of product and process.
Facilitate employee attraction and retention through ICSR strategies: Employees are continuing to require that their employers “to do good while doing well.” Opportunity to optimize HR performance and your overall reputation are increasingly dependent on CSR performance.
Changing culture: Ultimately, your employees will implement CSR strategy on a day to day basis. We recognize that it is not only what you do but how you do it. A top down approach to ICSR will be met with roadblocks. We help you foster the culture and capabilities needed to support ICSR strategy in the long run including capacity building for an eventual hand-off of ICSR programming
Support development of philanthropic program: Philanthropy is a very dynamic field and ‘giving’ is no longer limited to traditional grant-making. We help your company evaluate its assets and determine what type of role you can and should play in the impact marketplace.
The goals of these efforts are to return value to your company through
Integrated Business Solutions: Our engagement with non-profit organizations and hybrid organizations focuses on using business rigor to grow impact and make operations as effective and as efficient as possible. Importantly, this process is intended to drive innovation and enable organizations to benefit from successfully deploying new products and processes.
Strategic Counsel: Getting strategy right is a central element of any non-profit’s trajectory and is one of the most valuable services Kito offers. Understanding your goals, values, and initial strategy is mission critical. We then draw from our robust experience and work with your team to define and develop new strategies and directions, assist in communicating those changes, and implement the initiatives which flow from your strategic shift. Finally, we work with you to identify and respond to external forces, industry dynamics, and changing business and operating conditions. We provide counsel in both an on-going and ad-hoc basis as well as formal settings - depending on your needs.
Change Management: Kito supports leadership of NGOs and INGOs to drive institutional change. Given the shifting landscape of philanthropy and non-profit activities, including continued move toward cross-sectoral action and blended finance models, Kito helps redirect or redefine the use of resources, business processes, budget allocations, and other aspects of operations.
Developing KPIs: The non-profit sector has long been criticized for its failure to effectively measure impact and ROI of programs. Metrics that are used are often inadequate or fail to account for potential unintended consequences (both positive and negative). We work with you to identify and implement KPIs that align your culture with goals and objectives that make sense to all stakeholders. And, we support you during the transition as you move forward with the newly defined strategies and initiatives.
Challenging the Status Quo – Business Modelling: Philanthropic models are changing dramatically and new opportunities to grow impact through vehicles such as alternative financing and blended financing models are rapidly accelerating. We work with you to create structures and incentives to grow impact and achieve financial objectives. Importantly, we respectfully challenge stagnated viewpoints and assist in shifting team dynamics to achieve your new vision.
Asset development: NGOs and INGOs are engines of innovation and have nascent assets that can and should be developed. We help develop a process to formally inventory assets; prioritize them; and make business decisions around their future. A straight-forward framework of “cultivate, harvest, and monetize” assets can have an astounding, catalyzing effect.
Networking and partnership building: Kito has developed an extensive network of cross-sector actors many of which are donors, funders, or investors. In addition to fundraising, there are many new types of collaborative working relationships and partnerships to explore. Identifying and mapping external stakeholders will expand the possibilities available to transform your mission and business approach.
Cultural Transformation: One of the most important aspects of a successful forward path for any non-profit is to forthrightly address its most important asset: its people and team. Setting foundational principles around respect for communication; clear strategic direction and vision; and role definition are essential. Kito works with non-profits to ensure that internal culture, including values, is optimized to achieve optimal performance.
